At Tastea Treats, we believe that the important things in life happen in everyday moments and that every moment can be made better with a cup of tea.

 Imagine spending a quiet moment escaping the stress of the day with a cup of tea or getting together with friends for tea and conversation.  We have a cozy space that is perfect for a quiet lunch or tea and a treat.  If you would prefer to enjoy your tea outside, less than a block away, in either direction, are seating areas.  A couple blocks away is the beautiful Markdale Rotary Club Park with a picnic shelter and winding river. There is ample parking behind our building which gives easy access to our tearoom through Burnside Memorial Park.

We start with good quality loose-leaf tea that is ethically sourced and prepare it properly, based on the owner’s tea sommelier training. We also have loose-leaf tea in bags and various styles of accessories available so that you can have great tea at home or on the go. Complete your teatime at our shop with gifts, books, and good company.

Tastea Treats’ owner, Jenny McQuaid, was born and raised in Markdale, ON.  Her love of tea began with relaxed afternoons chatting over a pot of tea with her Grandma.  She first discovered loose-leaf tea in college and loved the variety of flavours available and that there was at tea for every mood.  Tea always brought feelings of warmth and comfort when needed.  It was also the perfect cold refreshment in the summer while out in the boat or hiking our beautiful Grey County trails.  She is training as a tea sommelier and can answer questions about the origins of the teas or help you to find one that pairs well with your meal.

Tastea Treats started out at a booth at the Flesherton Farmers’ Market with the desire to introduce quality tea to our community. That is also where we introduced Slush-tea as an alternative to the artificially flavoured and coloured slush drinks that are widely available.  Jenny is a mother to 3 children who always wanted the colourful slush they saw in the convenience stores, but she was uncomfortable with giving them large glasses of what she considered colourful sugar water.  Slush-tea is made from freshly brewed, sweetened, loose-leaf tea.  It does not contain any artificial colour or flavour.  It is kid approved and is the ideal drink to cool down with on a hot day!

Our teas are small batch blended and packaged in Canada.  Some of the blends are exclusive to Tastea Treats and blended in Markdale, ON.  The farms that the teas are sourced from are inspected annually to ensure that they meet stringent standards for social responsibility and environmental sustainability.  Many are members of Ethical Tea Partnership or are Fair Trade Certified.
